Feb 13: A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas

"Six years after their Guantanamo Bay adventure, stoner buds Harold Lee and Kumar Patel cause a holiday fracas by inadvertently burning down Harold's father-in-law's prize Christmas tree."

The Harold & Kumar movies are always interesting. They are never the greatest films or even the funniest but, some how, they work. The chemistry between John Cho and Kal Penn is perfect and you can completely believe that they are the best of stoner friends. They could be thrown into any situation and, for some odd  reason, it works... it always works. A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas is no different. Sure, the production value has decreased, the shine is gone, and the ridiculousness is at its highest, but it somehow comes out as a rather enjoyable movie. I actually wish I saw this in theaters, in 3D, because the film doesn't just use it in a glorious, over-the-top fashion, but makes fun of it.

He's smiling at the eggs, piss, penises, candy, and hands all popping out at his face.

A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas is a hard film to review because it knows it's bad and cheesy but, also, is so tongue-in-cheek that it practically makes fun of itself. The story is full of holes and the pacing is a mess, but the jokes strung throughout make the whole ride enjoyable. Of course, anything with Neil Patrick Harris is also worth watching and his "cameo", if you even want to call it that again, is hilarious and oh so wrong. Danny Trejo also plays a part, and when Machete's in a movie, the badass level raises significantly. My one complaint is Amir Blumenfeld, who I have never liked, I now despise on another level. He's just a little scrawny punk that I don't believe should be anywhere near a film set. Let him rot away in his little College Humor world for all I care.

As I thought of a caption for this, the longer I stared at his picture, the more mad and disgusted, I grew. (I hate him)

Overall, A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas brings nothing new or profound to the world of film but simply exists as another entry in the pothead franchise. Its use of 3D is clever but none of it carries over to a home viewing. The movie is just more Harold and more Kumar and you either love it or you hate it. The film isn't really meant to be dissected and torn apart for hidden symbolism or anything and it exists to be viewed and enjoyed by those already in love with the multi-racial-pot-smoking-trouble-making duo.

The Good:
a new adventure for our favorite stoners
The Bad:
the fact it would only be even more enjoyable stoned or in 3D
The Ugly:
The little hairy mouse, Amir, who thinks he is actually funny

Overall: 6.2/10

Best Quote:
Harold: "I shot Santa Clause in the face. He's real, and I shot him in the face."

P.S I want a Wafflebot. Bad.
