The Lone Ranger May Take on the Cowl... Again

Warner Bros. is again showing signs of life with its The Justice League movie  that they've had planned for years. First rumored in 2007, the George Miller movie would showcase all of The Justice League's heroes from Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman, to The Martian Manhunter. The film had a cast and was set to go but, after budget issues and scheduling conflicts, WB eventually put the project on the shelf.

Now, after Warner Bros. sees the success Marvel is having with The Avengers, they're at it again trying to get into the billion dollar game. Armie Hammer, who's set to take up his own mask in next year's The Lone Ranger, was originally set to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in the scrapped JL film. With his name recognition growing and his face becoming more familiar, Warner Bros. is rumored to want him again for the role.

Back in June, I posted an in-depth article talking about who I would love to see play each superhero in the DC mega-movie and I actually kept Hammer in the role, thinking that he's more than perfect for The Dark Knight. Hammer is certainly built for the role, coming in at 6'5", and his deep voice fits Batman perfectly. Ever since his performance in The Social Network, there was much hope for the career of Hammer and I assumed he'd be jumping into project after project and making an even bigger name for himself. He's a terrific actor but unfortunately his latest decisions haven't quite held up to his talent, with Mirror, Mirror and J. Edgar not quite hitting the mark.

Do you think Hammer's a good choice for the role? If not, who else do you think has the acting chops and build to take on the role of The Bat?

Hammer was incredible in the Social Network. I also thought he did really well in J. Edgar, despite the film being a total dud. You're right, he hasn't chosen many great rolls lately...here's hoping.

He clearly has the talent he just needs to hone it better and have wiser career decisions. I hope he takes off for the better after Lone Ranger.

Not that I have high hopes for that film...
