The Cinematic Katzenjammer: Blogathon: A Little Questionnaire

Blogathon: A Little Questionnaire

Cinemaniac Reviews is hosting a little blogathon questionaire kind of thing. As I am a sucker for stuff like this, I figured it'd be best if I participate. Below are a handful of questions many of you have even asked me before, so read up and you'll probably find yourself surprised at some of my answers.
1. What’s your favorite movie?
The Princess Bride. I can watch it over and over and over again and never get tired of it. Great story, great characters, great acting.

2. Least favorite movie?
Any of the spoof movies that include an adjective then "Movie" in the title.

3. Name one movie you loved upon initial viewing but eventually grew to hate (or vice-versa).
Reality Bites. I used to love this movie A LOT and after re-watching it recently, I can't help but realize it's about a bunch of whiny "hipster-like" twenty somethings.

4. Name your biggest “guilty pleasure” film.
For some reason or another, I love the movie Joe Dirt. I know it's stupid and I know it's bad, but I watch it whenever it's on TV. That and The New Guy.

5. Favorite quote from a favorite actor/actress (must be a line from a movie)?
It's cliche but gives me chills every time, "
Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight."

6. Favorite quote from a favorite actor/actress (must NOT be a line from a movie)?
"The whole concept of celebrity pisses me off. While I'm not a celebrity, it's such a weird concept that society has cooked up for us. Astronauts and teachers are much more amazing than actors."- Joseph Gordon-Levitt, only part of his continued hate towards the "idea" of celebrity.

7. Three favorite movie scenes? (among many)
-Inigio Montoya and The Man in Black's sword fight in The Princess Bride

-Monty's (Edward Norton) monologue in 25th Hour
-T-Rex vs. velociraptors at the end of Jurassic Park

8. Four films that should NOT have won Best Picture?
Rocky (should have been Taxi Driver), Shakespeare in Love (Saving Private Ryan), Crash (Brokeback Mountain), Forrest Gump (The Shawshank Redemption)

9. Top five of the year (currently)?
The Grey, The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Moonrise Kingdom, God Bless America

10. Bottom three of the year (currently)?
This Means War, Wrath of the TitansTim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie

11. What film gets your vote for the worst or most pointless remake?
Godzilla, Psycho, Total Recall, or The Day the Earth Stood Still

12. Is there any film you think is actually desperate for a remake?
The Warriors. It's a solid film but could have gone in such a better, more developed direction. Love the plot, just want to see it stretched out further.

13. Name your three favorite film heroes.
-Batman (every form)
-Indiana Jones
-Marty McFly

14. Name your three favorite film villains.
-The Joker (The Dark Knight)
-John Doe (Se7en)
-Woo-jin Lee (Oldboy)

15. Best sequel?
The Dark Knight, hands down.

16. Worst sequel?
All three Pirates of the Caribbean sequels. The first one is an instant classic, the three followups just ruined the franchise and characters.

17. Best trilogy?
The Dark Knight trilogy or the Bourne trilogy, as both series were consistent with incredible

18. Worst trilogy?
Paranormal Activity, Star Wars I-III
19. What’s your favorite word to use in a movie review (if your film blog does not feature reviews, substitute “review” with “-related post”?)
I tend to use incredible and ridiculous a lot. I'm trying to cut back but I seem to be some kind of 'incredible' junkie.

20. Anything else?

1. I love that movie, too. I've only seen it once (in whole), but I'm dying to revisit it.
2. I'd agree with you, even though Scary Movies 3 and 4 are some of my guilty pleasures. I think these producers realized that people were avoiding movies whenever they ended in "Movie" (Disaster Movie, Epic Movie, Superhero Movie, Dance Flick, etc.), so they started creating crap like Meet the Spartans and Vampires Suck. There's another coming out called The Starving Games, I've heard.
3. I don't believe I've had this mentioned in my questionnaire before. Nice.
4. Haven't seen either of those, but I have certainly heard about Joe Dirt in all its stupidly funny glory.
5-6. Nice quotes.
7. I'd agree with you on TPB and JP; haven't seen 25th Hour.
8. I personally love Rocky and have wondered why EVERYBODY is saying it should not have won Best Picture. Taxi Driver is pretty high up there on my watchlist, so I'll have to see that before I say any further on that, I guess. Completely agree with you about The Shawshank Redemption's loss to Forrest Gump.
9-10. Still have to see God Bless America (out of your top five). I'd forgotten about Tim and Eric and I guess that's a good thing.
11. Psycho, hands down.
12. I don't believe I've heard of this one...
13. Ah, yes, it's about time Marty McFly gets some love. :)
14. Sadly haven't seen Se7en or Oldboy yet.
15. I'll agree with you there.
16. I've tried to avoid the entire series after the first film, which I was bored by. Couldn't finish it.
17. Yep.
18. What!? Paranormal Activity for the WORST trilogy? I must be the only one on this earth who enjoys them all.
19. We all have overused words. ;)
20. I'll slowly back away now...

Oh, the moment Crash won over Brokeback Mountain was the biggest disgrace I ever saw happen during Oscar ceremony. I love Bourne trilogy too! POTC sequels are bad, yes but for me the one that was truly terrible was the last one.

Wow thanks for the detailed reply. That's how you run a blogathon!

It was because the middle age white conservative majority of the Academy didn't have the balls to award a movie like Brokeback. Crash was safe, that's why it won. As for POTC, I hate talking about it lol.

I love the Joseph Gordon-Levitt quote -- it makes me like and respect him. Princess Bride is such a fun movie. Randomly quoting it is a favorite pastime in my house.

Pastime? You need to be quoting it now as well lol. But yeah, that J-Glev quote shows you what kind of guy he is. Really awesome.
